Chang Hua, Taiwan (Bike News Online) - Swedish-founded multinational furniture and home accessory retailer, IKEA has announced a recall for its Sladda belt-drive bicycle. In cooperation with the CPSC in America, the company is recalling the bikes due to the potential for the belt-drive to break.

IKEA has sold over 6000 of the bicycles worldwide (with 4900 in the USA), and to date, the company has received 11 reports globally of the belt drive breaking, including two reports resulting in minor injury.

This recall involves IKEA 26 inch and 28-inch SLADDA bicycles. The recalled bicycles are a light grey and have an aluminum frame. IKEA is printed at the bottom of the seat tube near the crank. The article number is printed on a sticker at the bottom of the downtube.

The bikes were sold exclusively at IKEA stores and online from August 2016 through January 2018 for between $400 and $500.

IKEA is advising customers that have a Sladda bicycle are urged to stop using it and to return it to any IKEA store for a full refund.
