According to Taiwan's draft export statistics from January to June, exports of e-bikes from Taiwan increased by 49.38% in the first half of 2018 compared to the same period last year.
Although the quantity remains relatively low at 136,000 units, the export value was 191 million US dollars, up 63.45%, and the average export price was 1407.82 US dollars, up 9.42%.
Of the 136,000 e-bikes exported, 28,700 units were shipped to the United States, up 143.29% over the same period of last year. Exports to the EU also grew 26.26%, reaching 88,000.
The total export volume of traditional bicycles exported was 1.067 million, down 6.89% from the same period of last year. However, the export value was 660 million US dollars, up 18.64%, and the average export price was 619.17 US dollars, up 27.42%. In the first half of the year, traditional bike exports to the US market grew by 13.71%, while exports to the EU declined by 18.56%.
