The e-Team 5.0 Alliance was formally established on December 3, 2019, under the auspices of Pen-Tsao Chang, Chairman of the Taiwan Federation of commerce. The alliance was established to create new value in the bike industry. Founded by industry and academia, the founding members have a strong lineup, including Ideal Bike Corporation, Taiwan (Ideal Bike), SRAM Corporation Taiwan Branch (SRAM), Microsoft Taiwan, Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd, MediaTek Inc., Unitech Group, Global Prosperity Technology, xCloudinfo Corp. Limited, Pisces Capital. The technical resources from National Chung-Hsing University, Tunghai University and National Cheng-Kung University, and the Taiwan Federation of commerce have also played an active role in facilitating and promoting the alliance.
Professor KJ Lin of National Chung-Hsing University, who is currently implementing the SwiCity E-Bike project of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) stated, "The e-bike should contribute the human-oriented design spirit to create a low-carbon, healthy and intelligent green city. The project highlights the interdisciplinary integration plan for the social needs of the MOST. In the digital technology transformation, the innovative value-added to the e-bike in Taiwan incorporate three technologies: "Smart Electronic Control System", "Internet of Things" and "Blockchain." In the past three years, the total sales of e-bike has grown at an annual growth rate of 36%. It is expected that by 2030, the e-bike market will exceed 13 million units, with a market value of more than 1 trillion dollars. There is no doubt that Taiwan e-bike industry supply chain will play an important role in industrial upgrading indicator of the 5G Internet of Things in the next decade. Therefore, the e-Team 5.0 Alliance is the supply chain team that integrates complete bicycle and electronic control system, including battery, drive unit, computer and Internet of Things; and aims to enhance the competitiveness of Taiwan bicycle industry to stay on the top position of global bicycle market."
The e-Team 5.0 Alliance has developed the WeBike MIT brand of dockless shared e-bike to target a global market. It aims to create a WeBike cluster effect for the Taiwan bicycle industry, provide a full range of cloud services platform, and establish high-standard communication specifications for IoT chips, as well as protection and blockchain carbon footprint applications. Through the integration of the industrial chain, combined with the advantages of Taiwan's ICT chip, the team seeks new changes from the traditional industries, and high value-added cloud technology. Namely, based on the resumes and smart contracts driven by blockchain MIT, it can protect the rights of consumers.
