Organizers of the Sea Otter Classic have announced that the 2020 event, which had been rescheduled for October 1-4, has now been canceled. Additionally, the Bicycle Leadership Conference, which is held in conjunction with the event, has also been canceled. Organizers noted that additional details regarding the future of both events will be announced July 17.

Event CEO and President, Frank Yohannan stated, “After frequent discussions with Monterey County health officials, it has become clear that we cannot host an event that will meet our health and safety standards.”
Instead, Sea Otter will hold a virtual event, the Sea Otter Play. This will include product launches, cycling challenges and fundraising for COVID-19 relief in a digital format. Ride challenges will start September 1, while the virtual festival will be held from September 17-20.
“The industry response to this event has been terrific. For many sponsors and exhibitors, this will be their first opportunity to showcase their latest innovations to a global audience," said Yohannan. "We’re excited about what our September event will bring to the cycling industry and are making every effort to ensure your faith in us is rewarded with fun for you and your family,”
The 2021 Sea Other Classic is scheduled for April 15-18, 2021.
