Merida is selling well in high-end overseas markets; however, the channel inventory level is low and needs continuous replenishment. The sourcing period has been extended due to the substantial increase in demand. Additionally, the visibility of orders has been extended to September of next year (2022). Due to variables such as lack of containers and bottlenecks in dispatch scheduling, Merida recently delayed some of its shipments. As of the end of May, the complete bicycles (including traditional bicycles and e-bikes) are stranded in inventory and waiting to be exported, exceeding a value of over NT$700 million.
In May, the combined sales of the business were 98,234 units, a year-on-year ratio of -6.75%. The consolidated revenue was NT$2,352,830,000, a year-on-year ratio of -8.88%. In the first five months, the total number of units sold was 509,004, a year-on-year increase of 24.41%. From January to May 2021, the accumulated group consolidated revenue was NT$12,785,520,000, a year-on-year increase of 28.70%.
Merida Taiwan (selling high-end bicycles and e-bikes mainly exported to European and American markets) sold 62,623 units in May, a year-on-year increase of 81.24%. From January to May of 2021, the total number of products sold is 330,076 units, amounting to annual growth of 56.46%. Merida Taiwan generated total revenue of NT$1,746,500,000 in May, a year-on-year increase of 26.29%. From these first five months of the year, the accumulated revenue was NT$9,911,190,000, a year-on-year increase of 47.64%.
