SRAM is making significant strides in its expansion plans in Taiwan. In September 2023, the company held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new SRAM Taiwan Center (STC) facility in Tanzi, Taichung. This event, attended by government officials and local dignitaries, highlights SRAM’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its presence in the region.
Construction of the facility began in August 2023, following extensive discussions with landowners, construction teams, and government authorities. Land leveling and excavation are now underway, marking a smooth start to the project. To showcase its progress, SRAM hosts a special event during Taichung Bike Week, where visitors can explore architectural models and videos that detail the new facility’s development.
Set to be completed within 24 months, the STC facility will consolidate SRAM’s three existing manufacturing plants, warehouse, and development center in Taiwan. This integration will further bolster Taiwan’s role in the global bicycle supply chain, enhance SRAM’s production capabilities, and drive substantial growth in central Taiwan.
The STC is founded on four key strategic pillars: One-Stop Shopping, All Functions in One Building, World-Class Value Stream, and Sustainability. With a focus on green building certification and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, the facility is designed to optimize production processes, ensure product quality, and boost operational efficiency. Spanning 32,000 ping (approximately 105,000 square meters), the facility will provide 30% more operational space, reinforcing SRAM’s competitive edge in the global market.
As construction advances, SRAM remains committed to driving innovation and sustainability in the cycling industry. The new facility not only aims to increase productivity and efficiency but will also generate local job opportunities, stimulating regional economic development while reinforcing SRAM’s leadership in sustainable manufacturing.
SRAM Asia GM Bob Chen noted that all of SRAM's component production will take place at the new facility, which will also include chain production. Every product listed in SRAM's catalog will be available and purchasable at the new Taiwan facility. A grand opening ceremony is expected to be held in late 2026 or early 2027.
