Optima Cycles has announced the acquisition of Dutch cargo bike manufacturer Dolly Bikes, marking a significant step forward in expanding its range of innovative and sustainable mobility solutions.

Since joining the portfolio of Bolster Investment Partners in 2021, Optima Cycles has focused on designing, producing, and distributing high-quality electric cargo bikes and e-bikes under well-known brands such as Dutch ID and Lovens. The acquisition of Dolly Bikes strengthens Optima Cycles' leadership in the rapidly growing electric cargo bike market, allowing the company to offer customers an even broader selection of mobility options.

Founded in 2012, Dolly Bikes is recognized for its expertise in electric cargo bikes and its innovative e-commerce model, which delivers directly to consumers. The acquisition will enable Dolly to leverage Optima's extensive European distribution network, further enhancing its market presence.

We are thrilled to welcome Dolly Bikes to the Optima Cycles family,” said Michiel Dreef, CEO of Optima Cycles. “Their proven expertise and successful business model perfectly complement our existing portfolio, and together, we will offer an even wider range of sustainable mobility solutions to our customers, while reinforcing our market leadership.”

Daan Buddingh of Dolly Bikes added, “Dolly has become a favorite among families with our distinctive cargo bikes and customer-focused service. We are excited to take Dolly to the next level, now under the support of Optima Cycles.”

Hanneke Modderman, Investment Director at Bolster Investment Partners, commented on the acquisition, saying, “This is a significant step for Optima Cycles. Dolly Bikes aligns perfectly with Optima's strategic focus on sustainable mobility and offers new opportunities in both established and emerging markets. Additionally, Optima will benefit from Dolly’s innovative sales approach. It’s a great match between two companies that complement each other well.”

The acquisition further positions Optima Cycles as a key player in the sustainable transportation sector, catering to the growing demand for eco-friendly, innovative mobility solutions across Europe.
