Tern and its partners have donated 60 Short Haul cargo bikes to support communities affected by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. These bikes are being distributed in cities like Chernihiv and Oleksandriya, providing essential transportation for families, aid workers, and local service providers. The rugged, muscle-powered bikes are crucial in areas where infrastructure has been damaged, offering a reliable alternative to automobiles.
In Chernihiv, which faced heavy bombardment, the bikes assist families with children, healthcare workers, and those rebuilding their homes. The bikes also support delivery services, such as bread distribution to hospitals and schools. In Oleksandriya, a humanitarian center uses the bikes to supply refugees.
The initiative is especially meaningful as it was championed by Thomas Loesch, a beloved member of the Tern design team who passed away in August. His perseverance ensured the project’s success, bringing hope and practical support to Ukrainians enduring the war's challenges. The bikes aim to empower essential workers and provide moments of respite for local families.
