The Bicycle Association for Sustainability (BAS) held its first members' meeting of the second term and the election of the board of directors and supervisors on December 20. During the meeting, 15 board members and five supervisors were elected, and Young Liu, CEO of Giant Group, was unanimously re-elected as the President of BAS for the second term.

Young Liu highlighted that BAS, founded two years ago, now has 81 member companies and 254 representatives. As of the end of November 2024, 71 member companies have completed greenhouse gas inventories, and 31 companies have successfully reduced carbon emissions, making significant progress, and even outpacing global efforts. Additionally, BAS hosted an ESG International Initiative Forum, which received high recognition from international organizations. The association also completed its Human Rights Code of Conduct, with 99% of its members signing it. In October 2024, BAS participated in the Taiwan Climate Action Expo and was awarded the Best Climate Partner Award.

Looking ahead, President Liu emphasized that in the new year, BAS will continue to organize the ESG International Initiative Forum, further enhance the Human Rights Code of Conduct, promote cycling carbon credits, and implement product carbon footprint calculations based on Product Category Rules (PCR).

Founded in December 2022, BAS integrates the upstream and downstream supply chains to drive the bicycle industry's transformation toward net-zero carbon emissions. The association is actively promoting seed personnel training, carbon inventory calculations, and process and product carbon reduction initiatives. BAS has committed to reducing carbon emissions by at least 3% annually, with a target of a 25% reduction by 2030, or a 40kg reduction per bike.
